Grizzlies 8A D gives up TD, but not W

Josh Delaney tossed four touchdown passes to help keep the Union Grove 8A Grizzlies unbeaten in a 40-8 win at Eastern Hills on Tuesday.
Delaney connected with Cameron Delaney, Tony Barnes, Tre Edwards and Marcus Anderson.
Other offensive standouts for the Grizzlies (7-0, 4-0 division) were linemen Gavin Owens, Justin Riesen, Hunter Hill, De'Sean McQueen, Ricardo Miranda, Christopher Lewis and James Collins.
Edwards also picked off a pass 2 yards deep in the end zone and returned it 100 yards for another score. Other defensive standouts were Teron Davis, Devlin Smith, Quahary Bobbitt, Wilson Owens, Tyrone Bonhomme, Garrett Gaskamp, Malik Jones, Bryson Carter and Matthew Longoria.
Four turnovers and a bad snap on a punt doomed the Panthers to a loss.
The Panthers did, however, become the first team to score on Union Grove's defense.
Live Oak Ridge 8A 28, Palo Alto 8A 8 — At Live Oak Ridge, Rayshun Spearman scored the only touchdown for the defeated Patriots on a 4-yard run. Palo Alto had just 16 players available.
Spearman also ran for a two-point conversion. Other offensive standouts were running back Christian Vascot and quarterback Lajuarren Burks.
Defensive standouts were Malik Clemons, Tony Borja, Trevor Sellers and Toma Rivera.
Live Oak Ridge 8B 14, Palo Alto 8B 12 — At Live Oak, with only 15 players, the Patriots suffered their first loss of the season.
Teddy Sands scored on a 75-yard run for Palo Alto in the final minute of the first half. Ikenya Margrum had a 30-yard run to set up a 4-yard TD run. Quarterback Richard Gamblin was another offensive standout.
Defensive standouts were Keith Chirco (fumble recovery), Zachary Zenhye and Abraham Perez.
Union Grove 8B 22, Eastern hills 8B 0 — At Eastern Hills, Anthony Hendrix scored on runs of 15 and 10 yards and the Grizzlies clinched the B-team district championship.
Jason Chiarenza scored the other touchdown for the Grizzlies (5-0) on a 2-yard run.
Brandon Squires, Quincy McKennon, Joseph Gordon, Kyle Key, Caleb Dean, Kevin Orta, Cody Burke, Darius Mitchell, Luis Garcia, Dale O'dell, Justice Barber, and Tyler Partain were defensive standouts.
Other offensive standouts were quarterbacks Daniel Gibbons and Caleb Tomgenovich and linemen Landry Binion, Robert Mendoza and Minh Nguyen.
Nolan 7A 28, Audie Murphy 7A 20 — At Nolan, Keondre Parker-Sheppard scored three times and added a 2-point conversion to lead the Mustangs to their fifth victory.
Nolan's Dominique Harris opened the scoring on the second play of the game on a 46-yard blast behind solid blocks from David McCants, Roelandoe Caldwell and Garrett Hall. The play was set up after Brett Williams returned the opening kickoff 30 yards to midfield.
After giving up a touchdown to the Falcons, the Mustang offense marched down the field and scored when Parker-Sheppard scampered into the end zone on a 7-yard run. Garrett Hall added the 2-point conversion.
The Falcons scored with only seconds on the clock sending the game into halftime tied 14-14.
In the second half, Parker-Sheppard capped a s14-play, 70-yard drive with a 2-yard touchdown, then tacked on the 2-point conversion. Parker-Sheppard scored again in the fourth quarter on a 30-yard run to seal the victory.
Defensive standouts for Nolan were Alvin Amos, Vince Lobendahn, Marcus Godwin and Chris McKiver.
Union Grove 7B 22, Eastern Hills 7B 0 — Armand Brady scored on runs of 22 and 65 yards for the unbeaten Grizzlies.
Raquine Johnson caught a 25-yard TD pass from Carlson Goode. Goode also connected with D'Undre Mitchell for the 2-point conversion.
Other offensive standouts for Union Grove (7-0, 4-0 AFC Division) were Javier Prensa, Adontis Atkins, Michael Kelly and Jacob Baumgartner.
Defensive standouts for the Grizzlies were Justin Preddy (tackle for loss), Zachary Golaboff (sack for a safety), Mitchell Anderson (3 TFL), Aric Austin (TFL, fumble recovery), Jason Korpics (TFL), Devran Perkins (sack) and Caleb Visser (two TFL).
Union Grove 7A 20, Eastern Hills 7A 6 — Brian Thomas had two long runs for touchdowns and a 2-point conversion in the Grizzlies victory.
Jordan Harris scored from 7 yards out on a pass from quarterback Jordan Weller.
The Union Grove Grizzlies defeated the Eastern Hills Panthers last night to improve their record to 7-0 for the season and 4-0 in the AFC conference.
Defensive standouts for Union Grove (7-0, 4-0 AFC Division) were Yves Bottex (caused fumble), Micheal Williams (3.5 sacks, one tackle for loss), Ryan Turck (sack), Ethan Atkisson (1/2 sack), Nick Leafa (TFL) and Danyawn Pettus (fumble recovery).
Live Oak Ridge 7B 34, Palo Alto 7B 16 — Fullback Brandon Howard scored on a 15-yard run and Caleb Kidwell scored on a 3-yard quarterback sneak but the Patriots suffered their second loss of the season.
Halfback Joseph Icmat capped both scores with 2-point conversion runs.
Defensive standouts were linebacker Devin Dotson and lineman Dalton Ingvalson, who recovered a fumble.
Palo Alto 7A 6, Live Oak Ridge 7A 6, tie — Quarterback Broderick Reed scrambled for Palo Alto's lone touchdown from 15 yards out.
Other standouts for the Patriots were running backs Calvin Johnson, Shannon Bogues and Kole Miller.
The defenses ruled on a field where the mud was ankle-deep in spots.
Defensive standouts for Palo Alto were linebacker Ke'von Young and cornerback Jamion Gossett (interception).
Manor 7B 22, Smith 7B 6 — Brandon Schiller scored the only points for the defeated Leopards. Quarterback Juan Olvera was another offensive standout.
Smith 7A 30, Manor 7A 0 — Tailback Nick Perez scored three touchdowns in the Leopards victory.
Fullback Gregory Hunt also scored. Quarterback Anthony Arce and fullback Matthew Sanchez each contributed 2-point conversion runs.
Delani Young and Reginald Neal (interception) were defensive standouts.

Mikayla Blount had several kills. Raelynn Morris finished out Game 1 with good serves and defense. Other standouts for the Lady Cougars were Hunter Florian, Tatiana Waggoner, Aubrayon Woodkins, Alexis Jones, Claire Patterson and Destinee' Toleafoa.
Lee's district championship included a first-ever win over Midway.
Liberty Hill 7A def. Rancier 7A 25-15, 25-15 — Brandy Wilson served 13 points and Alexis Weisheit added 11 for the winning Lady Lions.
Other scorers for Liberty Hill were Kaylai Lewis (eight points), Danielle Purdue (seven), Miranda Tapia (six), Lashayla Rider (three) and Jasonica Moore (one).

Cindy Tavio was another standout for Lee (1-6 district).
S.C. Lee 8B def. Lake Belton 8B 25-14, 25-18 — At Lake Belton, the Lady Cougars finished 2-5 in district play with the victory.
Standouts for Lee were Bianca Terry, Rodtrence Mumpfield, Sela Rodriguez, Katherine Myers, Jalessa Miller, Kourtnie Torres, Katarina Pyeatte, Mhara Haskins and Erin Rivera.
Liberty Hill 8B def. Rancier 8B 25-7, 19-25, 15-11 — Danielle Rivera served 13 points to lead the Lady Lions to a victory.
